Hong Kong Heritage Museum Visit

Eighteen Serrans and their family members visited the “Digital Dunhuang: Tales of Heaven and Earth” exhibit at the Hong Kong Heritage Museum on October 13, 2018. We appreciated very much Serran Prof. Michael Lau for coordinating the visit and for two very knowledgeable curators for giving us a guided tour on the cultural relics of Dunhuang. We were fascinated by the vivid and interesting digitalized display, which made the profound Dunhuang culture very accessible to the hoi-polloi. And thanks to digitalization, preservation and restoration effort, we were able to see a much sought-after piece of art on a projected screen.

The guided tour ended with a presentation of souvenirs by our President John Wong and Prof. Michael Lau to the two curators. We left the museum for lunch at a restaurant in Shatin and every one thoroughly enjoyed the visit.

Serran Visit to the Chinese Sisters of the Immaculate Conception (CIC) 中華無原罪聖母女修會

A group of Serrans led by President Peter Tam paid a visit to the Chinese Sisters of the Immaculate Conception (CIC) on the 7th of April, 2018. The visit was to show the Serrans' concerns and support over CIC's objectives and devotions. The Missionary was founded in 1932 in Guangzhou, China, and came to Hong Kong in 1951. Currently there are two CIC convents in Hong Kong, one of them was on the top floor of St. Antonius Primary School at Yautong which we visited.

The Serrans were warmly received by Rev. Sr. Rosa Lee, Superior General who stressed that their missionary work focuses chiefly on education, evangelization and pastoral work. Besides running the schools, the Sisters often render services to the parish and visit the elderly and the sick. The convent now situated is in the premises of the Kindergarten and Primary School.

Then Serran Michael Lau gave a brief history of the formation and services of the Club which obviously was of great interest to the Sisters. Refreshments were served and group photos were taken in both the meeting room and at the grand mosaic wall in the assembly hall.

To conclude the visit, Rev. Sr. Rosa suggested a short group prayer session at the chapel for the intention of vocation. It was a blessed and memorable day.
